Following Sahe da Silva's essay on The Making of Lu Olo, interested readers should be pleased to know that a documentary on Dr Lu Olo's life will be shown at Fundação Oriente in Dili on February 16th. The documentary, Lu Olo's Story, was produced in 2001 by filmmakers Luigi Acquisto and Stella Zammataro. The documentary follows
[...] the story of Francisco "Lu Olo" Guterres, a commander in East Timor's guerrilla army who spent 24 years fighting Indonesian rule. When the Indonesians withdrew in November 1999, Lu Olo left his mountain camp and began the difficult transition from soldier to politician. The details of the screening are as follows:
As a civilian, Lu Olo now has to deal with people in very different ways. Former allies have become political rivals and there is the difficult issue of reconciliation with former enemies. And as a politician and community leader, Lu Olo has become an eligible widower and the matchmakers are on his trail.
Date: 16 February 2012
Time: 7:30pm until 10:30pm
Place: Fundação Oriente, Rua Dr. Antonio Carvalho, No. 13 - Apartado 470 (next door the former City Cafe or now Cafe Katuas)
